th main issue with platforms is not how much "potential" power they have but how quickly and effectively can you start using them. Making a piece of hardware or software is only 10% of this huge iceberg represented by the work needed to document it properly and build tools to make it useable. Arduino for example is relatively low tech but there is a huge investment in all the rest... community building, tool design and documentation...
